Secure Communities
As of May 15, 2012, illegal immigrants arrested in Massachusetts will now have their fingerprints automatically entered with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. While state and local law enforcement officers are not directly enforcing federal immigration law or making arrests for immigration violations, the transmission of fingerprints allows local police to provide information to Immigration and Customs Enforcement. If you are arrested as the result of Secure Communities, you risk the possibility of being placed in removal proceedings or removed from the United States.
If you feel that any of these new processes will directly affect you or your family and friends, please feel free to contact the office at 617-426-8100 for further information.
